Current

Current is an app concept I worked on as my senior capstone project, alongside three other team members, at Northeastern University. The idea of Current is that it allows you to maintain context around the contacts in your phone, while also making it easy to exchange information. The idea came from combining desires to solve two problems: how do I get rid of cumbersome, old fashioned business cards? and how do I keep track of the relationships in my life in a more organized way? We worked to solve this by creating features that allow you to create as many digital business card profiles as you want, share them easily, organize your contacts into groups, and keep detailed notes and reminders for each contact in your phone.

Three of us worked on designing the core features. The features I worked on the most were the experience of scanning someone's contact information as well as the experience of maintaining multiple profiles (if you hit view profile from the prototype below, you can see that experience as well).

Research

Initial research involved interviewing our friends, many of whom were currently networking to get a job as college grads, and professionals we met in our own networking endeavors. We looked into existing solutions that were trying to solve the same problem, and looked for where they fell flat. For the scan experience, I gathered QR code design inspiration from Dribbble and other scanning experiences that work well, such as Evernote's Scannable app.

Final

Higher fidelity prototyping was done in Pixate. An updated scanning experience that I prototyped in Pixate can be seen here.
